Uncategorized Bitcoin Ordinals collection emerged as the top-ranking NFT collection on Wednesday with a 24-hour sales volume of over US$3.42 million despite a 34% drop, according to CryptoSlam. The assortment of Bitcoin-based digital assets experienced a 12% increase in transactions, totaling 5,955 transactions. Bitcoin collections led the NFT market despite sales for Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), Yuga Labs’ blue-chip collection of 10,000 unique assets, surging by 68% in the past 24 hours to US$1.7 million.

Avalanche-based PC extraction shooter Shrapnel has announced the launch of its marketplace, alongside three days of STX2, its second early access play test. The marketplace will go live with 10 cosmetically-enhanced weapons, which don’t offer any gameplay advantage. Priced from 10 SHRAP tokens (around $3) to 50 SHRAP (around $13), players will be able to use these weapons in STX2.

The Bitcoin blockchain continued leading the non-fungible tokens (NFTs) market on Tuesday despite sales volume dropping by 44.36%, as of 2:30 p.m. ET. Bitcoin recorded US$12.2 million in NFT sales while the network’s native cryptocurrency dropped to as low as US$62,349, according to CryptoSlam. About US$5 million of those sales came from Uncategorized Ordinals, a category of digital assets on the Bitcoin network that is not part of a collection.

Gaming giant Square Enix, the long-running publisher behind such franchises as Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts, announced Tuesday that it has invested in HyperPlay, a crypto-native game launcher. Square Enix has been playing in the blockchain space for a few years now, including investing in metaverse game platform The Sandbox back in 2020, experimenting with NFT stickers in Japan and later NFTs tied to premium Final Fantasy VII physical toys. And that exploration culminated in the debut of Symbiogenesis last year.

Bitcoin Ordinals project NodeMonkes flipped Bored Ape Yacht Club earlier Monday with a market capitalization of 7,300 BTC, around $490 million, according to cross-chain NFT marketplace Magic Eden. By comparison, Bored Ape Yacht Club’s market capitalization at the time was 136,500 ETH, or around $483 million, according to the NFT analytics site NFT Price Floor. The market cap for an NFT project is the floor price multiplied by the number of assets in the collection.

Mechanism Capital co-founder Andrew Kang purchased the original Pepe the Frog NFT from the estate of bankrupt crypto hedge fund Three Arrows Capital, known as 3AC, for an undisclosed sum. Auction house Sotheby's facilitated the private sale as part of the liquidation of 3AC's remaining NFTs. Sotheby's confirmed the sale to The Block and onchain data shows it has been moved to Kang's wallet.
