Though the transaction count and fees are down, Bitcoin mining has become more difficult than ever.Bitcoin’s rising hash power flies in the face of its bear market-level trading activity, according to blockchain intelligence provider Glassnode.

In the company’s weekly on-chain update, it analyzed investor behavior amid Bitcoin’s latest price slump. The cryptocurrency, which briefly broke above its $45,000 resistance late last month, has since descended into its consolidation range near $40,000.According to Glassnode's research, on-chain spending behavior showed that some investors appeared to be profit-taking during the recent rally.

According to Sorradino’s mayor Juan Pio Drovetta, the initiative to mine cryptocurrencies was supported by the local community.Like many other rural towns in Argentina, Sorradino was hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting inflation, and struggles to pay for an upgrade of its railroad infrastructure that came back in use for the first time in 33 years last year.

Crusoe Energy, the bitcoin (BTC) miner that uses flared gas that would otherwise be wasted to power its miners, said Monday it was largely unaffected by an accident that occurred last week near one of its bitcoin mines in North Dakota.

Crusoe noted the incident wasn’t connected to its operations. “There was an accident unrelated to us on a location where we operate but we were relatively unaffected,” Crusoe Energy’s CEO and co-founder Chase Lochmiller told CoinDesk.“Fortunately, nobody was hurt. Our operation was not the cause and was located far enough away from the incident that the damages to Crusoe’s facilities were minimal,” Lochmiller added.
