AI Will 'Accelerate' the Metaverse, Empower Creators: The Sandbox Co-Founder

use of artificial intelligence, or AI, may speed up the pace at which original work is created in the metaverse, said Sebastian Borget, co-founder of The Sandbox and a speaker at Consensus 2023. “What used to take days before, from ideation and conception, can now take just a matter of seconds,” Borget told CoinDesk TV’s “First Mover” on Thursday. AI will “accelerate and empower even more creators,” he said. The Sandbox, a culture and entertainment platform, is a user-generated and virtual gaming tool where users can build, own and sell their gaming experiences. The Hong Kong-based platform’s Game Client was installed over 1.3 million times last year, and has a digital presence in countries including Japan, China, Dubai and Saudi Arabia, Borget said. AI has garnered widespread attention. Some of its use cases, including ChatGPT’s text generator, have been met with warm and not so warm reactions. In March, for example, Neal Stephenson, author of “Snow Crash,” a science-fiction classic novel where he coined the term “metaverse,”.

Porsche steps up Metaverse collaboration with Microsoft

Cars North America has announced it is collaborating with Microsoft to utilize HoloLens 2 and Dynamics 365 Guides to ‘revolutionize skilling, training, and customer experiences’. Porsche Cars North America says it is driving its cloud transformation initiatives with Microsoft technology to enhance the efficiency and consistency of the company’s automotive services in the US. Microsoft announced the collaboration ahead of Hannover Messe 2023. Windows 11 is coming to HoloLens 2 as a free upgrade in H1 of this calendar year as part of what Microsoft describes as its strategic commitment to HoloLens 2, mixed reality, and the industrial metaverse. Dynamics 365 Guides from Microsoft include new 3D annotation features that enable customers to annotate anything around them within arm’s reach, creating a ‘seamless blend of physical and virtual content’. Microsoft says 3D drawings ‘don’t need to be attached to a machine or surface—users can apply them anywhere, giving users more freedom when illustrating complex processes to frontline workers in the field’.

AI-driven social metaverse company Social Future raises $6M in funding

Future, an AI-driven social metaverse company, has recently announced that it has successfully raised USD $6 million in funding. Social Future’s aim is to create the future of social experience with phygital interaction, immersive content, and self-sovereign communities. Social Future’s product, MAY (“Meet Another You”), enables immersive social experiences via personalized avatars. Built with blockchain and AI, MAY allows users to generate ownable 3D virtual worlds where avatars. Social Future’s original IP, ThreeEarsBunny (TEB), will be integrated into MAY as a fun-filled theme park with a collection of NFT-based games. Having launched just two months ago, Social Future stated that TEB has already amassed a community of over 30,000 members, as well as launched a series of leisure games, which have been played more than 200,000 times, according to the company. Social Future added that since its official launch in January 2023, the company has grown its user base to over 100,000 users from North America and enrolled more than 20,000 unique active wallets (UAW) per week. Seventy percent of its users are crypto-native, and an MPC wallet will soon be launched to seamlessly bridge Web2 users.

Adidas Unleashes Groundbreaking ALTS NFT Collection

, the well-known sneaker and lifestyle brand, has recently expanded its non-fungible token (NFT) ecosystem called “Into The Metaverse” with the release of a new collection called “ALTS by Adidas”. This new collection introduces a dynamic NFT with eight different “ALT[er] egos” that correspond to different rarity traits and interactive storylines. By burning their NFTs from the first two phases of the Into The Metaverse collection, holders can receive a new NFT from the Ethereum-based ALTS by Adidas collection. The Into The Metaverse collection was first released in December 2021, and it promised holders of the NFTs “exclusive access to collaborative merchandise and virtual land experiences throughout 2022.” Adidas’ first Web3 exploration, a collaboration with NFT influencer gmoney, PUNKS Comic and Bored Ape Yacht Club, allowed holders to burn their NFTs to receive a new ERC-1155 token from the next phase of the project and claim physical clothing items. At the time of writing, the Into the Metaverse collection has a floor price of 0.57 ETH (about $1,000) and has done 48,771 ETH (about $93.4 million) in trading volume since its launch. Adidas has been actively participating in the Web3 space through various digital apparel.

NFT warranties can help mass adoption of the technology, says Web3 exec

The
Web3 space has seen its fair share of exploits in the recent past, with more than $320 million exploited by hackers in the first quarter of 2023. For many users, particularly prospective users, securing their digital assets is a top priority. A new nonfungible token (NFTs) warranty service from Web3 payment provider Wert and insurtech service Avata is trying to troubleshoot the asset security gap for both active and prospective collectors. According to the announcement, the opt-in warranty for NFTs will cover up to 90% of the value of the digital assets for any NFTs compromised in a smart contract hack. Cointelegraph spoke with George Basiladze, the co-founder and CEO of Wert, who said a solution like this helps bridge the “trust” gap, while offering needed protection to an array of collectors. The service will be available on nearly 80 digital asset marketplaces, including the KnownOrigin NFT marketplace. According to Basiladze, the NFT protection will be charged at 6% of the asset cost at checkout, and coverage will be calculated by the purchase price rather than the current market value.

Former Bitcoin Core Developer Says NFT Market Is ‘Pleasantly Down to Earth’ Again

hype once driving the popularity of non-fungible tokens (NFT) may have finally settled, said Jeff Garzik, a former Bitcoin core developer and co-founder of software development company Bloq. “I call the [NFT] market ‘pleasantly down to Earth,’” Garzik, who is also the founder of Web3 focused entertainment company NextCypher Productions, told CoinDesk TV’s “First Mover” on Tuesday. While still nowhere near the volumes of last year, things have been picking up with NFTs. According to a report from online store for decentralized applications (dapp) DappRadar, the NFT market had a 137% increase in trading volume during the first quarter of this year. Despite a slight decrease of over 15% during March, the ecosystem reached $4.7 billion in total value for the first quarter. Garzik said that a lot of the NFT hype appears to have finally “burned off,” and users now are looking for NFTs that can provide real utility, something that users can engage with and that will attract their attention.
