GameStop Partners With Immutable X To Launch Its Ethereum-Based NFT Marketplace

GameStop
, a leading video games retailer, has stepped into the web3 ecosystem with an all-new NFT marketplace that supports trading assets from games on the web3 platform Immutable X. These utilities include tradable tokenized items, including customizable plots, digital trading cards, and several others.

Immutable X is an Ethereum by-product, but it’s relatively faster and less expensive than Ethereum, which becomes slow on certain network traffic conditions. It can allow users to perform NFT interactions faster by offloading several transactions to a layer-2 blockchain. Furthermore, the brand Immutable has recently been listed as a crypto unicorn. It has been successful in racing investments by Animoca Brands.

NFT project Art Gobblers rakes in $13 million two hours after launch

The
NFT-based decentralized art factory Art Gobblers raked in millions of dollars in ETH shortly after starting its mint. Art Gobblers brought in an ETH volume of 7,480 ETH, with 925 unique owners and a floor price of 11.25 ETH, according to the NFT data tracker Blur. That’s more than $13.4 million at the time of writing.

Art Gobblers attempts to make a self-sustaining art creation ecosystem through financial incentivizing. Artists can use the drawing tool on the Art Gobblers web page to create art., which can then be minted as ERC-721 tokens through what is called “glamination,” The Block Researcher Thomas Bialek explained. Minting an NFT requires GOO tokens. Gobblers, or animated ERC-115 tokens, then eat the tokens and display the art in their bellies.

SupraOracles
is super excited and takes great pleasure and pride in making their formal announcement of the fact that they have joined hands in the form of a mutually beneficial partnership with Metahorse. The entity Metahorse happens to be a freshly introduced online game in the metaverse involving horse racing.

Not only that, but they will also be able to race these very selected and bought horses. The option for them to breed new NFT horses will be available. However, this will be an entirely new world of experience and exposure. In all these exciting activities, Metahorse will be responsible for building a connection between the digital aspect of the NFT horses and that of the horses existing in the real world.

WBSC to award NFT prize to Baseball5 World Cup's "Social MVP"

The
World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) is to award a non-fungible token (NFT) prize to the person who best promotes the inaugural Baseball5 World Cup on social media. They will be the fourth person getting an NFT for their exploits around the tournament, along with the best coach and outstanding male and female players, and be crowned "Social MVP".

Any individual or organisation can vie for the award by using the hashtag "#B5High5" on social media. The WBSC media and communications team is to scour Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and TikTok to pick the winner. An NFT is a unique digital asset it is claimed cannot be copied or divided thanks to a reliance on blockchain technology. NFTs have been framed by some as the future of collectables.

Race to the Bottom as NFT Marketplaces Refuse to Pay Artist Royalties

Royalties
are a big draw for artists, who value the ability of most non-fungible tokens to allow the creator to add a royalty collection feature on each resale at the time it is minted. So, each time an NFT is sold, a percentage of the price — generally 5% to 10% — is sent to the person who made it.

On Oct. 27, LooksRare, the second-largest NFT marketplace on the Ethereum blockchain according to DappRadar, announced that it would no longer collect and distribute artist royalties. Instead, it’s turning a quarter of the 2% protocol fee it collects on transactions, so the creators will get a 0.5% cut of sales. Which is better than nothing but a small fraction of the royalty fee that artists generally choose to levy.

Art Blocks founder announces friendship bracelet NFT airdrop

The
new project, Friendship Bracelets, will be available to anyone who owns a piece on the Ethereum-powered Art Blocks platform within a specific time snapshot. Those eligible will be able to claim two mints. Then, if owners choose, the NFTs can be sold on the secondary market.

Calderon partnered with artist Alexis André (a.k.a. MacTuitui) to envision how strands of a childhood bracelet could be interconnected to represent digital artwork in the form of a physical object with meaning, but no inherent value. Illustrated instructions to create an IRL bracelet matching the holder's NFT will accompany each mint.

Xbox boss Phil Spencer says metaverse is 'a poorly built video game'

Metaverse
is currently an experimental and expensive bet into the future of social interaction online. Instead of sending messages and interacting with people over video calls, the bet here is to meet them in a digital space with digital avatars. At the WSJ Tech Live 2022 conference, Microsoft Gaming CEO and head of the Xbox division Phil Spencer said.

Spencer said that video games already put people together "in 3D spaces to go and save the world from invading aliens, or conquer the castle" but the current iterations of the metaverse concept looked more like a "meeting room" than a virtual world. He said that's not "where I want to spend most of my time". Former Oculus VR founder Palmer Luckey compared metaverse to a "project car" that Meta was pouring unreasonable amounts of money into.

A
shareholder’s open letter to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has labeled the tech giant’s investment into the Metaverse as “super-sized and terrifying.” The shareholder has urged the company to scale down its investment in the metaverse and its related technology arm amid a significant fall in its stock price over the last 18 months.

The open letter was published on Oct. 24 and was directed at Zuckerberg and the board of directors. It was authored by Brad Gerstner, CEO and founder of technology investment firm Altimeter Capital, which owns roughly a 0.11% share in Meta, according to Hedge Follow. He said the company has announced investments of $10 billion to $15 billion per year into its Metaverse project, including AR/ VR tech and Horizon World, but “may take 10 years to yield results.
