Candy brand Mars today announced that it has signed a deal with Universal Music Group (UMG) label 10:22PM to create limited edition M&M’s based on Kingship, its virtual band made up of Bored Ape Yacht Club and Mutant Ape Yacht Club avatars.

Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), the massively popular NFT collection owned by countless celebrities, is facing accusations that its artwork and symbols include racist and Nazi dog whistles. The lawsuit, filed against Ripps by YugaLabs, brings claims of trademark infringement and false advertising against Ripps for making his own set of NFTs directly based on BAYC NFT images. Ripps launched what he calls a “satirical” NFT collection, marketed as “RR/BAYC” in May. Yuga says that Ripps is flooding the market with his NFTs and inherently devaluing the value of the BAYC collection.

Apes are currently sitting on a floor price of 67 ETH across the board – something that we haven’t seen since the early days of January 2022. Unlike cryptocurrencies, non-fungible tokens are priced in a way where the floor price is the lowest possible price someone is willing to sell their NFTs for.
