What will happen after the last bitcoin is mined?
Bitcoin and gold are considered scarce assets, but nobody knows how much gold will be mined while we know that there will only be 21 million bitcoins in existence. This 21 million limit makes bitcoin a deflationary asset that grabs investors' attention as they don't have to worry about inflation affecting their investments as fiat currency can do overtime. After all of these miners get their hands on the final bitcoin (and mining stops), what comes next for bitcoin remains unknown-but with such a finite number in existence already; its future seems more promising than ever before!
Bitcoin mining will reach its limit, and the last bitcoin will be mined on October 8, 2140, if the mining intensity remains the same as when the first block was mined. If it is used as a currency that performs the same functions as fiat currencies, it could stabilize by this time.
