Terror Groups Turn to NFTs to Spread Terror Message and Raise Funds

According to this report from WSJ, terror groups such as the Islamic State may have begun using blockchain technology to raise funds and gather forces. This seems to have become especially true after an NFT with pro-terrorism messages was discovered by an individual last month.

The NFT titled "IS-NEWS #01" showcased an image bearing the Islamic State’s emblem with text praising Afghanistan-based Islamic militants for attacking a Taliban position. Intelligence and national security analysts have stated that “it was only a matter of time” before terror groups leveraged the technology for spreading their ideology.

FTX to Halt ETH Trades on Arbitrum, Solana, BSC Networks Until Merge Completion

Crypto exchange FTX is reportedly halting trades of the Ether token on various blockchains until the merge upgrade to the Ethereum blockchain is completed. The official announcement read,

“As the ETH merge approaches, FTX will temporarily disable blockchain transfers of secondary chains for ETH to make sure that settlement is clean; main chain ETH transfers will stay active for longer.”

The suspension of ETH transfers and trades on FTX will commence on 7th Sept for the Arbitrum network while Solana and BSC will commence on 15th Sept.

PwC Venezuela Twitter Account Hacked to Promote Scam XRP Giveaway

The Twitter account of international firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC)’s Venezuelan branch was reportedly hacked yesterday to promote a scam cryptocurrency giveaway. The account posted links to a phishing website claiming to run an XRP giveaway. Though the tweets have since been removed, they were posted multiple times and stayed online for at least seven hours.

LG Electronics launches NFT platform with Hedera

Korea-based television company LG Electronics is reportedly launching an NFT marketplace called ‘LG Art Lab’ on the Hedera blockchain. The NFT marketplace will be exclusively available on LG television sets.

It will enable LG television users to buy, sell and showcase their Hedera NFTs from their screens, as long as they’ve updated their device to LG’s most recent software. LG's mobile crypto wallet Wallypto will also allow users to purchase assets by scanning a QR code to connect their wallets.

Nigeria and Binance in Early-Stage Discussions to Establish Crypto-Friendly Economic Zone

According to an announcement from the Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA), Nigerian officials are in ‘early-stage’ conversations with crypto exchange mammoth Binance and technology infrastructure company Talent City to establish a “Virtual Free Zone.”

The proposed zone, according to NEPZA managing director Adesoji Adesugba, will be a first in West Africa and function similarly to Dubai's virtual zones, which are intended to offer crypto firms laws, regulations, and tax incentives that are beneficial to the industry.
