Better yet, don't keep all your funds in a hot wallet that can be drained at the click of a button.

Thieves have a variety of advanced methods to steal your funds. Common ones include impersonating team members through using similar usernames (for example replacing Ls with uppercase Is and vice versa) and similar. Other scammers pose as genuine community members, gaining the trust of their targets.
