After months of development, Cherry Network will end 2022 with a bang!

The Cherry Network Mainnet upgrade is here.

Here is what it means for you

This code upgrade will be the largest since we launched our mainnet nearly six months ago. It will introduce various features and enhanced compatibility to the Polkadot and Substrate ecosystems. Perhaps most importantly, the Cherry Network will now support side chains (or parachains), the most advanced and promising scalability blockchain solution.

Parachains are an essential building block for Cherry Network's full EVM compatibility, expanding its existing interoperability by trustless bridges. The EVM parachain will be deployed on testnet soon and is expected to come online on mainnet in Q1 2023.

Developers will thus be able to launch decentralized applications on the Cherry Network and leverage its advanced capabilities and trustless storage as
- Ink! smart contracts, the Rust-based language native to Cherry Network Virtual Machine https://use.ink/
- Solidity smart contracts, compatible with the full suite of tools and frameworks developed by the massive Ethereum and EVM community https://docs.soliditylang.org/en/v0.8.17/
- Parachains, fully-fledged state machines running parallel to the Cherry Network and running custom specialized logic https://wiki.polkadot.network/docs/build-pdk

The Cherry core team will release this network upgrade between December 12 and 14, 2022. It will require a chain reset, meaning the existing blockchain will be scrapped, and its latest state will be recorded in the genesis block of a brand-new blockchain with the latest features described above. The upgrade will also reset all tools used to interact with the Cherry Network, including (and especially) our blockchain interface https://cherry.place/.

To avoid loss of coins, you must back up your private keys. If you have lost your mnemonic or keystore file, we recommend you create a new wallet, back up its seed and transfer all CHER to your new wallet. This only applies to users who created an account within the Cherry.Place interface; no action is required for users who use the Polkadot.js extension.
