An art curator at the Ross+Kramer Gallery in New York who collects unique tokens tweeted that he was the victim of a phishing scam. Hackers stole from him 16 non-interchangeable tokens from three different collections: eight NFTs from Bored Ape Yacht Club, seven NFTs from Mutant Ape Yacht Club, and one NFT CloneX. The value of the stolen crypto-assets is estimated at about $2.2 million.

The user clicked on a link leading to a "phishing contract" disguised as a genuine NFT application, thereby allowing that contract to spend tokens on his behalf. The attacker has already managed to sell several of the embezzled tokens on the OpenSea platform. For example, NFT CloneX was sold for 17 ETH. The remaining tokens were frozen by the platform at Cramer's request. He said he learned an important lesson and advised other collectors to use a hardware wallet to protect their tokens from theft.
