The Algorand Foundation has awarded Applied Blockchain a grant to develop the London Bridge, a trustless bridge that will connect Algorand with Ethereum. In a press release shared with CryptoSlate, the Foundation said that the bridge will also enable Algorand’s integration with other blockchain networks and provide a significant influx of liquidity to the growing network.

Despite its low latency, high scalability, and low cost of transactions, Algorand has been struggling with attracting liquidity. With the majority of DeFi and NFT projects now in the Ethereum ecosystem, its’s users have been struggling with a lack of network effect. Open / Comment

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is investigating the relationship between the US branch of cryptocurrency exchange Binance and two trading firms that have ties to Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao, as reported by The Waall Street Journal. The two firms, Merit Peak Ltd. and Sigma Chain AG, serve as market makers that continually buy and sell crypto on Binance.US, helping to lower price volatility.

The SEC is particularly concerned with the way Binance discloses its ties to the two trading firms, WSJ reports. On the Binance.US website, the crypto exchange tells users that affiliated market makers can trade on the platform. However, it doesn’t name specific firms. Open / Comment

The latest Chanalysis report has revealed that criminal crypto whales hold more than $25 billion in cryptocurrency from a multitude of illicit sources.

Stolen funds in 2021 accounted for 93 per cent of all criminal balances at $9.8bn. Darknet funds accounted for $448 million, scams were $192 million, while fraud shops were at $66 million, and ransomware at $30m.
