Here is a comparison of the amounts sent with PayPal, Mastercard, stablecoins, Visa and Bitcoin in 2021 (orange), 2022 (blue) and 2023 (grey). As you can see, more value was transferred through stables last year than through Mastercard and PayPal.
It is not surprising that the latter decided to launch its own similar PYUSD token, right?
