2023-04-03 12:10:10 The Arbitrum Foundation has provided a response to a community discussion regarding AIP 1 and the Arbitrum Foundation's transactions (Transaction 1 and Transaction 2.) The Foundation clarified in an earlier statement that "the goals of AIP-1 were to engage the community about initial decisions and ultimately have token holders signal their support by ratifying the initial decisions and framework via DAO voting." The earlier statement also stated that "the on-chain transfers of 50M $ARB tokens, 40M $ARB tokens have been allocated as a loan to a sophisticated actor in the financial markets space. The remaining 10 million has been converted to fiat and dedicated towards operational costs." Arbitrum later added that the "Foundation is a separate entity to Offchain Labs, and it was established with no funds. The 10m ARB tokens were sold to fiat to fund pre-existing contracts and to pay for near-term operating costs. For example, the $3.5 million setup costs outlined in AIP-1."

The Arbitrum Foundation acknowledged that "AIP-1 is too large and covers too many topics" and has therefore decided to split AIP 1 into multiple AIPs. The Foundation closed its response by stating that the goal of the Arbitrum DAO is to "create the most decentralized rollup, and despite this blunder of communication, we will continue to aggressively pursue this goal."

The AIPs following the rejection of AIP 1 are expected to occur early next week. Open / Comment
