Zk-snark (Zero Knowledge Proof) is a proof of zero knowledge. There are two participants in the zk-snark protocol: the proving party (prover) and the verifying party (verifier). Proof of zero knowledge is the process in which the proofer convinces the verifier that he has certain secret knowledge without revealing them. Using zk-snark allows you to hide the address from which the payment went, where it came from, how much money was transferred, and also allows you to prove that the transaction has actually passed and the correct amount is on the beneficiary's account. To work, the protocol must meet certain parameters:
- Completeness: if the statement is true, the honest prover can be convinced by the evidence of an honest verifier.
- Correctness: if the proving party is lying, it can not convince the verification party of the correctness.
- Zero Disclosure: if the statement is true, the verifier can not learn its contents.

Zk-snark is implemented in the Zcash crypto currency and its forks, as well as in the deployable Ethereum-Metropolis update. Open / Comment

Genesis Block (genesis block) is a zero block in the block, each crypto currency starts to be extracted with the genesis of the block.

Zero block bitcoin stores the record of its creator Satoshi Nakamoto. Together with the usual data there is a message:
"The Times 03 / Jan / 2009 Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks"
"The Times on January 3, 2009, the Chancellor is on the brink of the second crisis of banks."

Thus Nakamoto confirms that the first block of bitcoin was recorded in the blockade no earlier than this date, since this is the title of the article from the front page of the British newspaper The Times of January 3, 2009.
