According to research from Moonstream, an open source blockchain analytics firm, the top 16.71% of all NFT holders on Ethereum owned 80.98% of NFTs.

The analysis was conducted on more than 7M NFT transactions (ETH) between April 1 and September 25, 2021. According to it whales, NFT platforms and exchanges cover the top 16.71% of all addresses, who own 80.98% of NFTs on Ethereum. The remaining 83.29% of NFT owners were able to acquire only a "small number of tokens" during that period.

Nonetheless, Moonstream highlighted that the NFT market is open for majority, as there are few barriers to entry for those who wish to participate in this market
