Axie Infinity NFTs continue to see a decline in the number of unique buyers as well as average sale value which impacted its August sales volume negatively. Axie Infinity is one of the oldest NFTs in the digital collectibles space and has brought significant fortune to several collectors across the globe.

Despite surpassing $5 million in sales in August which is quite impressive considering the number of NFT projects in the crypto finance industry today, Axie Infinity plunged by approximately $842 million from August 2021. In August 2021, sales reached the $848 million level, marking an all-time high monthly volume for Axie Infinity. August’s sale was a 99% decrease year-over-year. Within the period, there were 305,264 unique buyers which corresponded to 1.85 million transactions.

Bitcoin is becoming harder to mine. The mining difficulty for the world’s biggest cryptocurrency’s jumped by 9.26% over the last two weeks, according to data from BTC.com. Analysis by the website shows that the network’s mining difficulty is the highest that it has been since January, hitting 30.97 trillion.

Bitcoin mining is the process of using powerful computers to verify transactions on the blockchain. Mining companies, which are usually large operations that utilize server farms and use a lot of energy, are rewarded with newly minted Bitcoin. Last month, miners in Texas suspended operations to help the energy grid and conserve energy during a heatwave—a move that likely made Bitcoin easier to mine. Bitcoin at the time of writing was trading for $20,205, according to CoinGecko data.

Many popular NFT projects—most notably the Bored Ape Yacht Club—grant holders the right to use their owned images to create and sell derivative artwork and products. However, there are questions over whether such IP licenses are legally durable, or if creators have even misled buyers. Venture capital giant Andreessen Horowitz says it wants to help.

The VC firm today announced the release of “Can’t Be Evil” NFT licensing terms that are available for any project creators to freely use. The licenses provide an array of different approaches for NFT projects, ranging from limited personal use terms to broader licenses that let anyone use the artwork for any purpose—even if they don’t own an NFT. But the firm’s General Miles Jennings and Chris Dixon write that the licenses have been tuned for decentralized Web3 projects to remove ambiguity.

2022-09-01 22:45:11 Helium Proposes Shifting its Entire Network to Solana Blockchain Months After $200M Raise

Developers behind the Helium network – a grid of medium-range wireless hotspots pitched as an alternative to hard-wired internet service – are proposing to migrate away from the project's own blockchain onto Solana, in pursuit of faster transaction speeds, higher uptimes and more interoperability with other blockchains as key reasons. The Helium Foundation wrote in a Medium post this week that the new proposal from the Helium core developer team would improve the operational efficiency "significantly." The proposal to move toward Solana and away from Helium's own blockchain, officially known as HIP 70, "addresses network speed, reliability and scalability," the foundation said.
