Twitter code revealed the development of a rival ‘Twitter Coin’ this week. Twitter-leaks account posted screenshots of an interface showing a ‘coins’ option for tipping. Another tech leaker Jane Manchun Wong posted similar screenshots – but then deleted her account.
Billionaire Twitter owner Elon Musk said it was a ‘no-brainer for Twitter to have payments, both fiat and crypto’ in a Twitter Spaces broadcast last weekend. Musk added that he wasn’t speaking to ‘any particular crypto coin’. Some Dogecoin supporters believe the Twitter Coin is a codename for DOGE. Others believe it’s more likely that Binance, who invested $500 million into Musk’s Twitter takeover.
