Elon Musk Says Tesla Is Suspending Bitcoin Payments Over Environmental Concerns
In a tweet Wednesday, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said the electric-car company is discontinuing bitcoin payments.
Cryptocurrency “cannot come at great cost to the environment,” the electric carmaker said in a statement tweeted by Musk.
Analysts believe that in this way Musk is flirting with investors. "Environmental, social and corporate governance issues are quite sensitive for many. Tesla, which positions itself as a clean energy company, does not want to ruin its reputation," says Julia Lee of Burman Invest.
But this may be just another step by Elon Musk to influence the cryptocurrency market.
