While digital currency markets have lost significant value over the past two weeks, the value locked in in Defi has also dropped significantly. Since the first week of January, TVL in defi has lost $54.29 billion. Today, TVL is $201.55 billion, down 1.19% in the last 24 hours. On Thursday night around 10 p.m. (EST), the price of bitcoin fell below the $40,000 zone for the first time since Sept. 21, 2021. During Friday morning trading sessions, bitcoin fell to a low of $38,250 per coin. In addition, the market capitalization of the entire crypto economy fell below the $2 trillion mark, dropping 7.5% to $1.94 trillion.

The price of bitcoin (BTC) fell below the $40,000 zone for the first time in 122 days. BTC has lost about 8% in the past 24 hours, and bitcoin has lost 21% against the U.S. dollar over the past month.

The second-largest crypto-asset, Etherium (ETH), is down 9.1% in the last 24 hours and 29.1% in the last month. ETH's 24-hour price range ranges from $3,271 to $2,809 per unit. Open / Comment

Ghozali Godzalu, a 22-year-old student from Indonesia, has turned 933 selfies into a collection of viral non-exchangeable tokens (NFTs) called "Ghozali Everyday." Ghozali originally sold each item for 0.001 ETH ($3.37), but the minimum price has since risen to 0.25 ETH ($843).

"I photographed myself when I was 18 to 22 years old (2017-2021), this is really a picture of me standing in front of a computer day in and day out," Ghozali's profile on the NFT OpenSea trading platform reads .

On Thursday morning, the collection had 448 owners and trading volume was nearly 270 ETH worth about $910,158, adding 876.87% in the last 24 hours. It thus ranks 36th on the list of the top NFT OpenSea by volume. Open / Comment

The compromise of the hot wallet was followed by the unauthorized transfer of eight types of ERC-20 tokens, including ETH, USDC, LINK and its own LCX token.

The first company to report the hack was PeckShield, which monitors the security of blockchains. Technical workers were interested in the suspicious transfer of ERC-20 tokens from LXC to an unknown Ethereum wallet.

After a while, the information was confirmed by the exchange itself. A published message on Twitter says about the loss of numerous tokens, including ETH, USD Cad (USD) and other coins, including its own LCX token.

The U.S.-based bitcoin exchange Binance announced the appointment of Sidney Majalaya as director of risk management.

Majalaya will report directly to Binance.US President Brian Schroeder. The latter took over the division in September 2021.

"Binance.US is deeply committed to regulatory compliance, and our priority is to maintain and grow the compliance and risk management organization," Majalaya said.
