NYSE files trademark application with NFT
The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) has filed a trademark application for the NFT marketplace and virtual goods.
In April 2021, the platform released an NFT "in honor of the IPO of high-tech American companies." Each token contains Spotify (NYSE:SPOT), Snowflake, Unity, DoorDash (NYSE:DASH), Roblox and Coupang quote metadata and represents the exact moment the company went public.
“Providing a marketplace for downloadable digital goods authenticated with NFT; providing a marketplace of virtual and digital assets, works of art, collections and non-fungible tokens; development and design of virtual retail stores and showrooms,” follows from the application of the exchange.
The Block stressed that the announcement does not necessarily reflect a desire to launch an NFT marketplace. At the same time, it speaks of the site's interest in protecting intellectual property related to areas of interest.
