The USD retreated from recent highs in the in the last trading day of September and the first of October, but will likely remain strong throughout October. The main driver for the weaker USD was an improved risk sentiment, after encouraging trial results for a COVID-19 treatment were released, with Merck & Co applying for FDA for emergency approval. And while markets are a bit lower at the beginning of the first full trading week of October, I believe that October will bring the turn-around after September has been the weakest month since March 2020 - but the recovery may come later in October, which means markets continue to wobble in the upcoming two weeks.
