Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) failed on March 10, and since then the price of bitcoin (BTC) has been on a tear.
In the early hours of March 10, bitcoin was trading around $19,600. It whipsawed just above and below $20,000 until around 12 p.m. ET when it was announced that SVB was going into FDIC receivership. At that point, bitcoin shed $200 to dip below $20,000, jumped around a bit and spent most of the weekend trading above $20,000.
By Monday, March 13 at 9:30 a.m. ET it was trading at $22,386. And then the fun began. Just 24 hours later, bitcoin was trading at $26,175, at one point even touching up against $26,500. As of publication, it is currently sitting around $26,700.

Ethereum developers have pushed back the highly-anticipated Shanghai hard fork by approximately two weeks.Initially estimated for late March, the Shanghai upgrade will now likely be deployed sometime within the first two weeks of April. The delay was announced at an Ethereum developer meeting on March 2.

During the meeting, core developers came to the consensus that the hard fork would occur about a fortnight after the Goerli testnet launch, which has been slated for March 14. The Goerli testnet will be the final dress rehearsal for the Shanghai hard fork before it is rolled out on the mainnet. Ethereum core developer and project coordinator Tim Beiko said, “For mainnet, we usually want to give people at least two weeks after the announcement,” before adding, “so imagine Goerli happens on the 14th, everything goes well, on the 16th, we agree to move forward with mainnet.

Massachusetts man, identified as Nadeem Nahas, a former assistant facilities director for Cohasset, MA, is facing charges for fraudulent electricity use and vandalism after reportedly mining cryptocurrency in a school crawl space. The town’s facilities director discovered computers and assorted equipment in the crawl space.

Nahas was identified as the suspect, and he reportedly resigned from his position in early 2022. He was set to be arraigned on Feb. 23 but did not appear in court, leading the judge to issue a default warrant for his arrest.
