Move-to-earn app STEPN announced that is opening an office in Hong Kong despite COVID-19 restrictions and a tough regulatory environment. Co-founder Jerry Huang told the South China Morning Post that STEPN will move its regional headquarters to Cyberport in Hong Kong. Cyberport is a tech hub with over 1,800 start-ups and companies.According to Huang, the motive behind opening an office in Hong Kong had come about following a conversation with former Cyberport chairman George Lam. During the talk, they had discussed creating a web3 startup ecosystem in Hong Kong.

Helium's market cap has drastically declined by over 50%, dropping from over $1 billion to around $490 million. Helium’s HNT token is in freefall as it has lost roughly 9% of its value in the last 24 hours –the highest over this timeframe– according to CryptoSlate data. On the seven days metrics, HNT is down by 37%, falling from a high of $6.20 to as low as $3.86. The picture is grimmer over the 30 days metrics. According to CryptoSlate data, the HNT token is down by over 55% in the last 30 days, making it one of the biggest losers among the top 100 coins. Meanwhile, Helium’s market cap has also drastically declined from over $1 billion to $490 million as of press time. Helium’s HNT is down 92% from its all-time high. The poor price performance of the asset is coming at a time when the blockchain network has been rocked with various issues.

The maker of the hit play-to-earn game Stepn, which rewards users with non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and cryptocurrencies, is setting up its first physical office at Hong Kong’s government-owned start-up accelerator Cyberport, making the city its first regional headquarters outside Australia, company co-founder Jerry Huang told the South China Morning Post. The move comes as other crypto-related companies have been retreating from Hong Kong in anticipation of a new licensing regime for crypto exchanges. Covid-19-related quarantine measures have also led to an exodus in the business community.

HNT has been decreasing since reaching a high of $12.50 on June 10. It created a lower high on June 25 before accelerating its rate of decrease. On Aug 22, HNT broke down from the $6.80 horizontal support area and validated it as resistance (red icon). Since then, it has been fallen at an even more accelerated rate and has so far reached a low of $4.60 on Sept. 1. Using an external retracement on the previous bounce, the closest support area seems to be at $2.85.

Developers behind the Helium network – a grid of medium-range wireless hotspots pitched as an alternative to hard-wired internet service – are proposing to migrate away from the project's own blockchain onto Solana, in pursuit of faster transaction speeds, higher uptimes and more interoperability with other blockchains as key reasons. The Helium Foundation wrote in a Medium post this week that the new proposal from the Helium core developer team would improve the operational efficiency "significantly." The proposal to move toward Solana and away from Helium's own blockchain, officially known as HIP 70, "addresses network speed, reliability and scalability," the foundation said.

The HIP 70 proposal explains that the migration to Solana would improve the network’s operational efficiency by giving Helium access to Solana developer tools, applications, and features. The proposal claimed the migration is necessary because the growing use of the Helium network has made it difficult to manage data flow and accounting, leading to inefficiency issues. Moving PoC and Data transfer to Oracles will help solve these problems and make the network more stable, allowing higher scalability.
