The developers of the MetaMask Ethereum wallet have warned of the emergence of a new phishing bot that steals secret phrases from users.

According to the message, the bot redirects users to a site that supposedly belongs to the support team. They are asked to provide a secret phrase to restore access to the wallet in the form of Google Docs.

MetaMask said it doesn't work with Google Docs. The developers recommended contacting specialists through the "Get help" function and report any suspicious activity.

Earlier, the analytical company CipherTrace warned MetaMask users about the increased theft of funds through clones of the project's official website.

Note that by the end of April 2021, the number of monthly active users of the wallet reached 5 million.
