5 tips you need to know before launching a startup

Starting your business is easier said than done. There are many factors to take into account which can get you stuck. The first steps you take are the crucial ones. Though, we will help you out: here are the recommendations on what you can do beforehand.

1. Look for negative reviews
Collect as many critical reviews as possible and bear in mind the harshest ones. If you can change their mind, you will be able to persuade anyone. Assess your ideas from the perspective of stark reality. Positive reviews are pleasant to read, though they don’t reflect the difficulties your product might face.

2. The result matters
Many business beginners mistakenly think only hard work leads to success. However, if you spend long hours on thinking through strategies, you will achieve more putting less effort. Your productivity will grow so you are more likely to achieve your goals.

3. Focus on what you can’t do
No matter what you can do, the main things is what you can’t. Our brain has a limited capacity of productive time. The less you work, you bigger your possibilities are in terms of thinking beyond work tasks.

You have to assign the responsibilities. Once you learn to do it, you will acquire the most important leader skill. Assigning responsibilities allow you to scale up your workability and enhance the results with the help of others. In order to efficiently assign responsibilities you will need social skills, humility, and self-confidence. Though, next time there will be no need to increase working hours. Think of those who could help you.

4. Learn from others’ mistakes
Of course, you can learn from your own mistakes. However, if you pay your attention to others’ experience, your mistakes will be more original, which means greater value for the community.

Try to get acquainted with experienced people that are better than you at something. Besides, there are TED lectures, blogs, books, and online communities like Idea Factory.

5. Community will give you more
Friends always provide positive feedbacks because they sincerely believe in your success. That’s why your nearest and dearest are a biased source of reviews. Instead, you can address the community of your potential customers and investors, other businessmen and experts in your industry. They can give you an unbiased overview of your project.

Platform for tracking students’ perfomance by @Boanergeme
Idea:
It helps to track your students’ progress and gives insight on how to improve with courses and learning suggestions.

Problems:
With the rise of remote learning, teachers, mentors instructors and lecturers interact with students less which affects tracking of their results. With the platform, you can create customized course plans based on each student’s past performance, interests, skills, or current assignments. You can also build an archive of all your students’ work. It will help identify your students strengths and weaknesses through its detailed reports. You can also create reports based on different criteria. It will help you streamline the process with live reporting, alerts, notifications and course recommendations.

Potential:
With billions of students and people taking courses globally, the ideas have potential to reach over a billion people.

Sounds real: $3,5 for synthesized speech

Sonantic implements AI in order to imitate human voice. The founder began with teaching autistic children. Now thanks to her startup, gaming studios save hundreds of hours on voiceover.

Background
Zeena Qureshi is the founder of Sonantic. In 2010, one of Zeena’s family members was diagnosed with autism. She started to study methods used for behavior and speech correction — ABA and speech therapies. She realized her commitment to help others and started to teach non-verbal autistic kids to speak.

Sacred project
Later, Qureshi launched a platform for mapping religions and ideologies. The aim was to struggle with extremism cause many religious extracts are taken out of context. The platform was predicated on artificial intelligence. It collected interpretations and comments devoted to sacred Islamic texts.

Cinema contribution
In 2018, Zeena got acquainted with John Flynn, who worked for the cinema industry for a while. He was interested in the technology of speech synthesizing and processing. Zeena combined her knowledge about speech structure and Flynn’s cinematographic experience which turned into Sonantic.

First inventions
The company developed a neural network that imitated human voice. It sounded natural with the help of timber regulation, breathing effect, and the main thing — emotion imitation.

In 2020, the startup presented the first algorithm version that could cry and breathe heavily. In 2021, they went deeper: Sonantic demonstrated how AI can reproduce anger.

How much does the voice cost?
Voice is a huge market opportunity. In 2020, the company attracted €2,3 million investments. By 2021, Sonantic has gained $3,5 million investments from Twitch, Entrepreneur First, and Horizons Venture.

Audio platform Sonantic is used by large cinema studios and companies, like game developers. The audio editor includes different voice models. They are created through the recording of professional actors’ voices. Customers can pick voice models from a large base or develop a new voice from scratch.

Ethical issue
Zeena assures that technologies are developing much faster the law and ethical norms. Therefore, the company strives to understand their actors, to see what they feel, and explore the possibilities properly. Any technology can be used both for good and for evil. That is why, before providing the access to voices, Sonantic verifies all the studios they work with and keeps the algorithm private.

A platform for science students by @Neudaaa

Idea:
A special platform for computer science students.

The idea is to create an interactive platform to ease learning process specially programming languages courses.

Problems:
There are many different programming languages but all of them are built on the same basis and on the same concept. So the idea is to create an interactive platform where experts teach students that are on different levels of programming languages.

How is this supposed to help

-junior students tend to toggle so many programming languages and they end up not learning even one but if this kind of platform is made available to them they will get an insight to choose their favorite one based on its efficiency, syntax, etc.

Potential:
Students will migrate to this platform because:
-junior students tend to choose these kinds of teaching methods
- the demand to learn new features
- students dont want to start all over from the beginning

Your guide on soft skills: how to make people like you

Whatever your job is, soft skills are necessary for everyone. If you want to get on well with your colleagues, clients, and chiefs, soft skills are essential. Employers especially value those who possess them. So, let’s learn how to master them.

What is it?
Soft skills are abilities referred to how you work and interact with other people. Unlike technical or ‘hard skills’, soft skills are interpersonal and behavioral tools that help you work well with other people and develop your career.

Unfortunately, it’s impossible to acquire soft skills on a training course: they are formed in our childhood and develop throughout life. Soft skills are correlated to our emotional intelligence. Employers look for soft skills in candidates as these abilities are hard to teach and important for long-term cooperation. Therefore, they are particularly valuable when applying for a job.

What soft skills to improve?

Problem-solving
If something goes wrong, you can either complain or take action. This skill helps cope with difficulties at work. The more you master it, the more easily you will tackle your problems.

How to develop: define the main problems in your life, set a deadline, and think of 20-30 solutions to them.

Effective communication
Communication helps build contacts in order to accomplish professional tasks. It includes business communication and presentation/oratory.

How to develop: communicate with your ‘target’ more. It can be client negotiations, presentations, or lectures. Join oratory classes.

Project and self-management
To create a website, build a house, arrange a journey — all these are projects. People gather around projects, like clients, assistants, or contractors. The person who manages a project is in the heart of the system.

How to develop: present your current tasks as projects. Set aims, deadlines, and stages. Reflect on how you can optimize them: get more profit or save resources.

Critical thinking
This is an ability to process information in a well-considered way. It helps verify information, see the correlation between factors, think rationally, and make right choices.

How to develop: work on your logic and observation. Define your colleagues’ behavior role models at work. Watch them react to new information. Learn to ask questions.

Customer focus
This is an ability to quickly identify your audience’s needs and wants in order to give the most benefit. The skill helps compete at the labor markets. In a country with a developing economy customer focus skill is particularly valuable.

How to develop: analyze your target audience. For instance, if you apply for a job, these are HR managers and company heads. Think of the problems with candidates they might have and try to solve them.
