On September 12, the multinational chain of coffeehouses, Starbucks, announced the firm has partnered with the blockchain project Polygon and unveiled the company’s Web3 technology called Starbucks Odyssey. The Web3 platform Starbucks Odyssey will provide Starbucks rewards members and the company’s U.S. employees with the opportunity to earn non-fungible token (NFT) assets.

The official countdown to “The Merge” kicked off early Thursday after developers successfully tested Goerli, the last big dress rehearsal for the Ethereum community, as the network prepares to move from proof-of-work to proof-of-stake consensus.

Goerli, which is a testnet for developers before launching their blockchain applications on the mainnet, is the third and final phase among three public testnets leading up to the merge. The Goerli testnet entailed a two-step process which culminated in the testnet merge being executed successfully at roughly 1.45 AM UTC after attaining a Terminal Total Difficulty (TTD) of 10,790,000. According to on-chain analyst OKHotshot, the hack was perpetrated by first compromising the Discord account of Boris Vagner, the Yuga Labs community manager. The hackers then used this unfettered access to share phishing links on the official BAYC, Otherside, and Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC) channels. UST was designed to stay pegged to the US dollar and allows holders to redeem 1 UST for $1 worth of LUNA.
