We'll see more negative funding on ETH and tons of shorts: the merge is coming, and many people buy ETH on the spot and short the same amount on futures. This way, they will get the drop from the hard fork and secure their funds.
However, the increased negative funding will slowly drain their derivatives deposit, so we don't recommend doing this now. Longs are getting paid now from the negative funding.
The faster funding gets more negative, the sooner we will see the short squeeze. The question is how many overleveraged longs we will need to liquidate before that. Spot and low leverage are the play now. Low portfolio exposure during volatility like this is a must.
