Kominfo launches disability-friendly metaverse on website

The
Communication and Informatics Ministry (Kominfo) launched inclusive features and metaverse for people with disabilities on its website in collaboration with state-owned telecommunications company Telkom. Deputy Minister of Communication and Informatics Nezar Patria stated here on Tuesday that the innovations were made in the efforts to fulfill the rights of disabled people in Indonesia. "As we know, there are almost 23 million Indonesians who are disabled.

Patria remarked that disabled people can access the inclusive feature page on the ministry's website kominfo.go.id through the "assistive touch" button. When the button is pressed, several features will appear that can help people with disabilities to access content on the kominfo.go.id site. "Our first step is launching the (page) access for disabled people, and the metaverse is for them to be present in the virtual space. Both can increase accessibility and inclusivity," he remarked. He stated that the inclusive metaverse and features on the ministry's website have started operating since Tuesday while expressing hope that they could be milestones in increasing accessibility in Indonesia's digital space.
