A brain interface startup called Synchron is working on technology designed to transform daily life for people with paralysis.
The Synchron Switch, which is a cutting-edge technology that enables individuals with little to no physical mobility to control devices such as cursors and smart home systems using their thoughts, is inserted into the bloodstream. Currently, this emerging technology has been successfully utilized on three patients in the United States and four patients in Australia.
In December, Synchron announced a $75 million financing round that included funding from the investment firms of Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.
