Hivemapper is the startup behind the technology building a decentralized, blockchain-based mapping network. The company will rely on dashcams, map contributors, and drivers to capture 4K, street-level imagery that will be processed, tweaked for quality, and annotated. Hivemapper will reward drivers and contributors with the company's native token HONEY and ownership to the contributors.
One of the most trusted mapping platforms, Google Maps, has received much hate from countless businesses, with the price hike that drove clients away to try alternative solutions.
Ariel Seidman, the founder of Hivemapper, believes a suitable incentive model now exists with the web3 and decentralized platform - getting a community behind the project and sharing the success with them.
Hivemapper is building on top of the Solana blockchain and currently live in nine metro areas. It plans to reach 30 more international regions in 2022.
