Meta has filed a trademark application for the Meta Pay payment platform
Meta has filed five trademark applications for the new Meta Pay digital platform.
Meta Pay is described as "an online social networking service for investors to make financial transactions and exchange digital currency, virtual currency, cryptocurrency, digital and blockchain assets, digital tokens and crypto tokens."
According to the filing, Meta Pay will also offer digital asset lending services.
In December 2021, the company acquired the
MetaPay domain name for $60 million.
The company previously closed its Diem stablecoin project amid significant opposition from regulators around the world. The project assets were later sold to the American crypto bank
Silvergate.
