Citigroup, 2009

As one of the largest US banks, it suffered so much from the crisis that the government had to bail it out. Citigroup reported a record loss of $8.29 billion and a dividend cut to $0.01 per share, and its shares plummeted 49% the day the report was released.

Netflix, 2008

That year, Netflix posted strong Q3 results, with revenue increasing by 31% and subscriber count growing by 23%, reaching 8.67 million. This was primarily due to the fact that individuals began consuming more affordable home entertainment during times of economic downturn. Following the report’s release, Netflix shares surged 42% in one day.
