DOGECOIN

DOGE is an absolute meme coin. It has both pro's and con's to it... either way it fundamentally is not a sustainble project and serves as the definition for something I like to call "hypernomics" where price is purely driven by retail traders and acts essentially as a money sink. There are also plenty of more projects just like it... most of which die off within a couple of years - the only reason DOGE is doing good is because of Elon. It is a threat to regulatory bodies because it threatens traditional economic structures for the exact same reason cryptocurrency does as a whole. At the same time it is fundamentally lacking and doesn't have any appeal for institutions (except to manipulate) so not of much interest to big money. If big money isn't interested in it then regulatory bodies view it as less of threat. It is truly a shame that DOGE is tainting the true potential and capabilities with cryptocurrency/blockchain but at the end of the day I think it will every only be considered as a kind of PR coin. Especially because fundamentally it doesn't offer any value and therefore will never be considered a viable project.

We are right now in a race between institutional adoption vs institutional regulation and cases can be made for both. DOGE is definitely not helping with the official cases but it does provide free PR to bring more attention and liquidity into the space. The higher an asset classes' market cap is the stronger of a bargaining chip it is for adoption and careful regulation.

Guys, this is a perfect example of what can happen. This time, Hotbits security managed to defend the attack, but it could have been different. Cyber Attacks will increase in the future as more and more assets can be stolen from exchanges.
