The Columbus-5 mainnet deployment will be delayed ~3 weeks until a new block height of 4,724,000, roughly equivalent to the following times:

9/29 at clock 20:30 PST
9/30 at 03:30 UTC
9/30 at 12:30 KST


Why the delay

A new version of Mantle that is highly scalable and capable of withstanding significantly more traffic by scaling Wasm queries will accompany Col-5

Provide more breathing room for third-party projects building on Terra with dependencies on existing apps like Mirror, Anchor, TerraSwap, and Shuttle migrating to Col-5.

Provide more thorough and expansive documentation for the community and third-party developers on the specifics of the Col-5 upgrade and how to use it properly.

In a nutshell
Columbus-5 mainnet upgrade is massive. Terra is not the same as it was in January of this year. TVL has swelled to $7.3 billion, and tens of thousands of new stakeholders, community members, and builders have entered the ecosystem.

No need to fret about the delay, as the goal is to implement some extra precautionary measures for the rollout of Terra’s most significant mainnet upgrade yet to ensure the smoothest launch possible.

The original timeline produced a hurried window for some projects to properly prep for Col-5.

Giving projects more time to acquaint themselves with the Col-5 testing environment and migration plans for major apps ensures a smoother runway for projects launching post-Col-5.
