The recent MATIC price action makes for a great case study on how Whales can manipulate the market to gain maximum liquidity before moving the market in their desired direction. In the above example, price came down to support, and many buyers would have set buy orders at support with a stop loss just below. We then saw price wick down below support, grabbing liquidity from high leveraged traders and trapping early shorts on the basis price broke solid support. We then saw a sharp reversal to the upside to liquidate overleveraged shorts, which helps push price higher, leaving both early buyers and shorts frustrated whilst the whales collect the money from retail traders
