US sanctions 71 companies from Russia, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan

The US Department of Commerce has imposed sanctions against 71 legal entities for supporting Russia, Reuters reported.

The restrictions affected 69 Russian companies, as well as one from Armenia, which supplies chemical products, and one from Kyrgyzstan, which supplies electronic components.

The sanctions against Russia target the country's military-industrial complex, as well as gas and oil projects in Russia and Belarus. The restrictions expand export controls on these two countries, according to the publication.

Additionally, the US has expanded export restrictions against Russia, prohibiting the import of a number of telephones, voice recorders, microphones, and home appliances into the country.

The list already includes more than 1,200 items, including construction materials, paints, paper, fabrics and vehicles.

The Russian Foreign Ministry responded to the new US sanctions by banning 500 Americans from entering the country. Barack Obama is among them.
