Crossmint, Red Bull Doodle Art, and Burnt Toast have joined forces to help student artists with an opportunity to create and mint their own NFTs.

This year, an NFT component has been added to the Red Bull Doodle Art global competition, giving winners the opportunity to have their artwork minted on-site at the world final and auctioned. Crossmint will play a vital role as the platform and infrastructure collaborator providing all participants with a Proof of Participation NFT and a wallet, with seamless onboarding powered by Crossmint.

Red Bull Doodle Art, with the support of Crossmint, will provide a unique opportunity for student artists to showcase their creativity to a global audience. 120,000 participants across 62 countries have already submitted their doodles. Students will get assistance from Burnt Toast, the illustrator, designer, animator, and muralist behind the doodles during the campaign.

Internet payment processor Stripe has introduced a fiat-to-crypto on-ramp to address the “cold start problem” faced by Web3 companies due to customers not having “crypto in their wallets to carry out transactions.”

The team behind Ordswap, the first BRC20 trading platform, developed RelayX, the first decentralized trading platform on the BSV network. Twetch, a social application built on BSV, is behind the Ordinals Wallet. Additionally, the founder of the Mempool mining pool is a core member of the BSV community.

These advancements have paved the way for Binance NFT Marketplace to announce its upcoming support for Bitcoin Ordinals. Bitcoin Ordinals are a way to create NFTs by attaching data to individual satoshis on the blockchain. Each bitcoin consists of 100,000,000 satoshis, and the protocol allows each satoshi to be identified and transacted with extra data attached. The additional data can include text, images, videos, or other content and is added to each satoshi through inscription.

The Taproot and SegWit upgrades to the Bitcoin protocol have made this possible. As a result, ordinal inscriptions do not require a sidechain or separate token and allow the creation of true, immutable collections on the Bitcoin blockchain. More than one million inscriptions have been made in the first three months since the Bitcoin Ordinals launch, creating yet another use case for Bitcoin beyond simple value transfer or storage. Leading cryptocurrency exchange Binance has responded to a Reuters report that raised questions about its compliance policies for preventing and tackling cryptocurrency-based financing of terrorism.

The exchange said it takes the issue very seriously and is not aware of any exchange, or other financial institution, that does more today to keep bad actors off their platform than Binance, the platform said in a Friday blog post.

Binance claimed that its policies and processes comply with AMLD5/6 anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing requirements and it has a robust compliance program that incorporates sophisticated anti-money laundering.

The exchange also said it has tools to detect and address suspicious activity and even has specialists on its team who have focused their entire careers on counter-terrorism. Open / Comment

The original "Star Trek" captain and longtime Twitter crypto guy officially dropped his non-fungible token (NFT) release, Infinite Connections, during CoinDesk’s Consensus 2023 conference.

Infinite Connections comprises two collections: Cosmic Explorer, with 2,500 NFTs that feature a Shatner 3D avatar paired with artwork that explores scientific themes like quantum physics and sonic vibrations.

Each one also includes a physical action figure of Captain James T. Kirk, the role for which Shatner is best known, each hand-signed by Shatner with a quote from the character.

The other collection is Timeless Voyager, which includes 1,000 NFTs of 2D artwork of future tech and the cosmos. There’s no action figure included, but “select” holders will have access to unspecified IRL opportunities. Open / Comment
