What are stock exchanges

In this post, we will talk about the stock exchange, how it works from the inside and how investors make their transactions on it.

It often seems to a beginner in investments that the stock market is something very complicated, and transactions on it are carried out exclusively by highly professional banking entities. This is not entirely true, let’s get into it.

The stock market is a market for securities such as stocks and bonds, ETFs and other investment instruments, and the stock exchange is an organized place where these transactions take place.

There are buyers and sellers on the stock exchange. Some want to buy securities, others, respectively, to sell. You cannot simply come to the stock exchange and sell 100 shares of a company, since there are special professional intermediaries between the buyer and the seller who have a license to conduct brokerage activities – brokers. They help a private investor to trade securities. All these activities are regulated by the Securities Act.

How do you buy and sell shares and where is the information about ownership stored

In the modern world, trading takes place online through special terminals. Imagine two people. One wants to sell shares, the other wants to buy. They go to their brokers. One submits an order to buy a certain number of shares of a company, and the seller, accordingly, submits an order to the broker to sell a certain number of shares.

Next, the broker checks whether a transaction between them is possible (whether the buyer has enough money and the seller assets). When all the data match, the transaction is registered on the exchange. Then the information about the transaction goes to the national depository, where records of all securities are kept and they are transferred from the seller’s account to the buyer’s account.

That’s all. Stay tuned for our next posts to learn more about finance.

What are Exchange-Traded Funds – ETFs

Today we will talk about an interesting financial instrument such as ETF.

ETF stands for Exchange-Traded Fund. ETFs are made up of a set of assets that are compiled according to certain characteristics and traded on an exchange in the form of shares.

As a rule, ETFs clearly copy the composition of certain indexes. That is, when you buy an ETF, you are buying a portfolio of multiple assets, which can include indices for stocks, bonds, commodities, currencies, countries, individual industries, the global market, and any other assets.

Benefits of ETFs:

- Wide diversification. When you buy one share of a fund, you essentially get a ready-made diversified portfolio

- Substantial savings in time and money. There is no need for a lengthy selection of securities for the portfolio.

- Low cost of one lot. As a rule, the cost of one ETF is several times lower than any individual security included in the fund.

- Savings on brokerage commission fees. When you purchase one share, you pay a commission fee only once, and if you compile an index on our own, you will have to pay for each security separately.

- High liquidity. You can quickly buy or sell your securities.

All in all, an ETF is a great way to start investing in the stock market with little capital and is a simple and straightforward way to diversify your investment portfolio.

How to monitor the capacity of your blockchain wallet

In the previous publication, we gave an overview of CPU, NET and RAM and how they affected the operation of the #Cryptounit #blockchain. Today we will tell you where you can monitor these important indicators of your blockchain wallet and what to do if the resources run out.

All indicators of the available resources can be found in the section Wallet at the top of the screen (slightly to the right of the QR code and the address of your wallet) and are displayed in the form of convenient pie charts.

The first value is RAM (memory). If you are an active wallet user and make a lot of transactions, then it is important to ensure that the RAM readings do not exceed 80%. If they are above the recommended value, you need to purchase the required amount of memory. You can do this by clicking on Buy / Sell RAM next to the chart. UNTB blockchain tokens are used as payment.

The second and third values are CPU (speed) and NET (transaction size). To increase the capacity of the wallet, it is necessary to rent these resources by staking UNTB tokens. You can do this by clicking on Stake / Unstake next to any of the diagrams or in the section Stake, and choose “UNTB for NET/CPU.” Next, you will be taken to the page where you can stake UNTB for CPU and NET.

That’s all! Keep track of your wallet resources and enjoy all the benefits of the #Cryptounitblockchain.

The main resources of the Cryptounit blockchain

Cryptounit is developed based on the EOSIO blockchain and uses a new consensus model called Delegated-Proof-of-Stake (DPoS) for its operation, which, unlike Etherium that works on Proof-of-Work (PoW) technology, allows you to create a system enabling cheaper, faster and more environmentally friendly transactions.

Let’s take a look inside and see the three main resources that Cryptounit uses to carry out operations on the blockchain:

CPU is the amount of time it takes to process a transaction, a renewable resource. It is the most important resource that is used every time a user performs any operation on a Cryptounit account. It is measured by the processor in microseconds. Its main task is to process the transaction. CPU is a renewable resource meaning that if for some reason the user runs out of it, then they just have to wait a few minutes/hours until it gets replenished.

NET is the amount of data (transaction size) that can be transferred from one point to another in a certain period of time, a renewable resource. CPU and NET are shared resources, collectively referred to as capacity. NET is a very important system resource in the Cryptounit blockchain. When a transaction is executed by the blockchain, it consumes CPU and NET, so to complete the transaction, enough UNTB should be staked for NET.

RAM is memory, a method of storing data in the blockchain, measured in bytes, a non-renewable resource. It is allocated for data stored by accounts on the blockchain. RAM is a very important system resource and cannot be transferred from user to user.

In the next post, we will talk about where the metrics of all resources are located and how to buy them for fast uptime if necessary.
