To make it easier to perceive numbers and indicate the value of goods/services, such currencies have small unit designations. For example:
One hundred millionth of a bitcoin is called a satoshi. If bitcoin is worth $25,000, a satoshi is worth $0.00025.
One quadrillionth of Ethereum is worth one Wei. In other words, there are exactly 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 Wei in one ETH.

So if you need to transfer small amounts in BTC and ETH, you can use Satoshi and Wei, not to work with very small numbers.
