Research: Solana Network is Greener than Google NetworkAccording to a report by the Solana Foundation, a single transaction on the Solana network requires 1,836 joules of energy. Interestingly, the report presents many comparative characteristics of the activities of different objects, which are much more energy intensive. A single Google search is reported to consume about 1080 joules of energy. Thus, two queries to Google consume more energy than one transaction on the Solana network.
In addition, a transaction in Solana also requires 24 times less energy than charging a mobile phone. The mains also requires less energy than an LED light on for one hour. It is also interesting that working on a computer for an hour with the monitor turned on requires 46,800 joules of energy.
In addition, the entire Solana network only consumes about 3,186,000 kWh per year. This is equivalent to the average electricity consumption of 986 US homes.
