Amid fears that Tether is losing its peg to the dollar, the company's CTO decided to reassure investors. Most of the security for the stabelcoin is in U.S. Treasury bonds.

Shiba Inu’s price tumbles more than 31% over the last day and hit the 24-hour low price of $0.000009145.

The sharp plunge in SHIB price comes after the mysterious BNB whale sold a whopping 5 trillion SHIB, worth $52,900,000 ($52.90M) in two significant transactions within the last 24 hours.

Following this massive selloff from the whale, the rumors began making rounds that this mysterious wallet belonged to Justin Sun, the founder of TRON.

2022-05-12 13:00:16 Tether temporarily lost its peg to the U.S. dollar

Tether (USDT) fell to $0.97 cents in the Asian session, losing its peg to the dollar.

USDT fell to $0.96 cents on the Coinbase exchange.

Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino said the company has enough reserves to redeem assets at a 1:1 ratio to the U.S. dollar.

"Over $300 million has been redeemed in the last 24 hours without a drop of sweat," he said.

2022-05-11 19:00:03 Gucci will accept cryptocurrency in stores

Luxury fashion house Gucci is delving into crypto, with some of its U.S. stores set to accept cryptocurrency payments by the end of May.

Gucci's outlet stores in LA, Miami, Las Vegas and New York are amongst the locations where crypto will be accepted. Customers opting for crypto payment will receive a link via email, containing a QR code that will then allow them to pay using their respective crypto wallets.

Ten currencies will be accepted, of which five are stablecoins pegged to the US dollar. Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Wrapped Bitcoin, Litecoin, Shiba Inu and Dogecoin make up the rest of the list.
