Solana (Testnet) Reports 13,000 TPS on Latest Stress Test
Layer-1 blockchain project Solana could process around 13,000 transactions per second (TPS) in future releases. According to an image tweeted by Solana Labs co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko over the weekend, a recent Solana release hit the milestone TPS figure. Stress tests refer to the process of determining the extent to which a computer program or network can remain effective at peak usage.
Noteworthily, the latest stress test involves Solana Testnet release version 1.11 which is currently under development. Also, as the Solana Labs co-founder alluded to, the test results may return lower throughput on the mainnet since they do not include complex transactions such as those associated with DeFi protocols. Solana currently averages around 2000-3000 TPS on its mainnet. However, the layer-1 blockchain project has already rolled out several upgrades with a focus on solving its known liveness issue.
