Ethereum transaction volume has increased since the beginning of February, with network gas fees hitting a multi-month high.

According to The Block's Data Dashboard, the seven-day moving average for the economic throughput on the Ethereum blockchain has reached a high of over $3.55 billion.

This is an increase of over 15% from a seven-day moving average of $3.08 billion at the beginning of the month. The uptick in transaction volume over the past weeks has caused a spike in Ethereum network gas fees. Open / Comment

The crypto exchange accused a Tezos tool contributor of "misleadthe community" by claiming it was unaware of the reason Binance blocked access to its corporate account.

Major crypto exchange Binance has confirmed it restricted account access to $1 million in crypto for a Tezos tool contributor after being called out on social media.

In a Thursday Twitter thread, Binance said it had restricted the account of Tezos staking rewards auditor Baking Bad “as the result of a law enforcement request.” The Tezos contributor alleged that the crypto exchange had blocked access to its corporate account containing Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), Polgyon (MATIC), Tether (USDT) and other tokens since July 1 “without any explanations” — a claim Binance denied.

“BakingBad is well aware of Binance’s actions, as he was already advised of this multiple times and provided the LE contact form through our support chat system on 7/6, 7/12, and 7/22,” said Binance. “Attempting to mislead the community in regards to your case will not change anything, unfortunately.” Open / Comment

2024-02-06 01:44:54 Deltec Bank's Funds Seized by U.S. Secret Service in Money Laundering and Fraud Probe

The U.S. Secret Service seized multiple corporate accounts last month controlled by Deltec Bank, a Bahamian bank with ties to crypto-related firms.

New documents unsealed in a federal court on Monday reveal that the secret service seized several U.S bank accounts controlled by Deltec last month. As per the documents, the amount seized by the U.S authorities is above $58 million.

The seizures were made amid an investigation into organized, international criminal money laundering syndicates operating cryptocurrency investment and other wire fraud scams.

The bank accounts that were seized by the secret service were custodial accounts with Mitsubushi Bank UFJ Trust in New York, opened by Deltec on behalf of corporate clients.

U.S authorities linked certain Bahamian bank’s customers to shell firms involved in a cross border scheme. The scheme allegedly involves creating fake crypto websites to dupe victims into depositing their assets or cash. Open / Comment

Twitter CEO Elon Musk on Wednesday delighted fans of the counterculture non-fungible token (NFT) collection Miladys, when he shared a meme containing the instantly recognizable image of one of the avatar NFTs overlaid with the words, “There is no meme, I love you."

The collection instantly shot to the top trending spot on NFT marketplace OpenSea, with the floor price briefly hitting an all-time high of 7.3 ETH (approximately $13,700), then dipping back down to 5.6 ETH at press time. The collection has seen a 59% increase in floor price over the past seven days.

Miladys are a profile-pic (PFP) NFT consisting of 9,823 NFTS featuring wide-eyed childlike faces. Bitcoin ETFs in the U.S. saw inflows of around $409 million yesterday as BlackRock recorded a purchase of roughly $160 million Bitcoin by adding a further 4,080 coins to its balance.

Data shared by Bloomberg analyst James Seyffart last night, Jan. 23, revealed $515 million in outflows for Grayscale with $249 million inflow from the other Newborn Nine ETFs. Given the now-released BlackRock data, this confirms that Jan. 23 was a net outflow day for Bitcoin ETFs of around $100 million. Open / Comment
