Chris Bouzy’s Liberty Coin Pump-and-Dump Scheme In May 2014, Chris Bouzy, aka IconicExpert, ran a scheme to
pump up the price of a cryptocurrency called
Libertycoin, which traded under the symbol
XLB.
It was a classic pump-and-dump scheme. Bouzy began
pumping Libertycoin on May 17, 2014, and it
crashed on May 28.
Bouzy then went on to delete his old tweets. His current twitter account
Cbouzy was originally set up as
IconicExpert on May 17, 2014.
The day after Bouzy started
pumping Libertycoin, a Twitter user noted that Bouzy’s “pump is having a hard time getting started.”
Bouzy deleted his side of this conversation, but we can tell Bouzy told this guy to
hold on and wait for the pump to get going.
On May 20, 2014, Bouzy started
promising something big was going to happen with Libertycoin.
By May 23, 2014, Bouzy had successfully
pumped the price of Libertycoin by 4x.
Some people were thrilled and some already were calling him out for being a
pump-and-dump scammer.
Note: This was
not Bouzy’s first crypto scam and a lot of people in the crypto community hated him.
Bouzy was
promising a technological revolution on May 27.
Bouzy’s promised technological
revolution didn’t come to pass on May 27, 2014, and Libertycoin
crashed on May 28.
Bouzy presumably
cashed out his own investment before the crash. Bouzy then blamed Libertycoin for the crash.
Before this pump-and-dump scam on Libertycoin, Bouzy did some other
dirty stuff with a cryptocurrency called
Blackcoin.
Chris Bouzy is a
conman and a scammer. Beware.
