2024-03-17 22:45:25 Ether.fi announces airdrop, will adjust token allocation following community complaints

Ether.fi, the largest liquid restaking protocol on Ethereum, has announced plans for its upcoming airdrop of governance tokens. The airdrop's first stage, entitled Season 1, will release 6% of the total token supply and covers behavior up to March 15. Season 2 will release 5% of the remaining tokens and covers behavior from March 15 to an unspecified future date.

Grayscale amended a regulatory filing through which it intends to convert its Ethereum Trust to a spot exchange-traded fund (ETF). The company’s March 15 amendment strengthens its earlier filing in multiple ways. The update supports the argument that surveillance sharing within the CME ETH market is sufficient to protect against fraud and manipulation in the spot ETH market.

Prediction markets on Polymarket currently estimate the likelihood of approval for a spot ether ETF by the end of May to be 28%. This marks a significant decrease from the odds of 74% on Polymarket on January 10, when spot bitcoin ETFs were approved. Since the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) approved 11 spot bitcoin ETFs in January, attention has turned to whether the agency could authorize spot ether ETFs next. So far, asset managers, including BlackRock and Fidelity, have filed applications.

Spot bitcoin (BTC) exchange-traded funds could see $220 billion of inflows over the next three years, which means BTC's price could quadruple to $280,000 when applying the multiplier on new capital, broker JMP Securities said in a research report Wednesday. The broker raised its price target on the stock to $300 from $220, the highest among Wall Street analysts, according to Factset data, while maintaining its market outperform rating.
