ADDRESSING THE SECURITY OF .HAT FILES
Dear ,
We have received numerous messages concerning the security of .hat files and how easy it is for it to be decrypted by some certain individuals using a hosted bot.
The .hat extension was originally designed to make it easy to share personal configs among HA Tunnel Plus users and at the time this was done we didn’t really pay so much attention to protecting the files aggressively because the primary aim was to make it easy to share configs without too much hassle.
Now that the concern have shifted from just sharing files to sharing more secured files that the contents cannot be easily retrieved by anyone who is not designated to do so we have decided to swing into action to develop a more secured system to share config files and we will be letting you all know when this system is ready, it may be a little complicated at first but we believe it will solve the current problem.
NB: .hat extensions will not be phased out entirely but a new extension will be in place to be used to identify a more secured config file for HA Tunnel Plus.
if you have any suggestions you can request to be added to the special channel where we will be doing test runs for this system and getting feedback. (space is limited).
