2021-11-04 20:00:36 ​​K-Pop Agency Hybe Partners With Crypto Exchange Dunamu For NFT Collaboration

Korean entertainment agency Hybe has partnered with crypto exchange Dunamu to venture into the NFT market. The collaboration saw Hybe gain a 2.48 percent stake in Dunamu, and the crypto exchange Dunamu acquiring a minority share of Hybe.

Hybe, formerly Big Hit Entertainment, is a South Korean entertainment company that manages some of the biggest music artists in Korea, including boy band BTS. Previously Hybe had denied any rumours surrounding a partnership, however the latest revelations from both parties has led to the shares of Hybe skyrocketing.

The two companies are expected to reveal their “detailed plan” on the exact nature of their NFT collaboration, however at a briefing Hybe founder Bang Si-Hyuk outlined a brief outline of what this might look like:

“We are under talks to shape up the detailed action plan with Dunamu on how to provide secure photo card ownerships and allow fans to possess them permanently. They would enjoy diverse experience by collecting, exchanging and displaying the cards through global fan communities such as Weverse, instead of having a single photo,” Bang said.

He added:

“The realm of fintech seems to go beyond what we can imagine”

The crypto exchange Dunamu operates the digital asset exchange Upbit, as well as several other crypto and fintech related products. During the brief with Hybe founder, Bang confirmed that the two will be developing an NFT business that would allow fans of their artists to purchase unique non-fungible tokens including animated images, and voices of the artists.

The continued popularity of NFTs and their adoption by the entertainment industry seems to show no signs of halting. Major corporations such as Warner Bros, legendary directors such as Quentin Tarantino, and even entire sports leagues, are demonstrating that the demand for non-fungible tokens is still very much present, and growing.

In Korea, a top VC of Korea Investment Partners stated in an interview with The Korea Economic Daily, that he believes that this year NFTs will emerge as promising investments as the global pandemic settles down, tapping into people’s desire for exclusive ownership.

November is here, and our monthly overview of the crypto market shows that October on the whole has been a good month for investors. Most coins are up, some are up massively, and a few have seen falling prices.

Compared to September, October – already dubbed “Uptober” – was a far better month. Helped by the launch of the first bitcoin futures-backed exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in the US, the likes of bitcoin (BTC) and ethereum (ETH) both reached fresh all-time highs during the month, with bitcoin briefly touching the USD 67,000 mark for the first time ever, and ETH nearing USD 4,500.

Noteworthy is also that BTC and ETH not only saw single-day all-time highs in October, but that the month also marked both coins’ highest monthly close ever on all major exchanges.

In October, nearly all of the top 10 coins by market capitalization had a good month, with many of the major coins seeing gains of around 30% for the month.


The only coin from the top 10 list that did not rise over the course of October was cardano (ADA), which instead fell by just over 11%. The losses for ADA in October came after another weak month in September, when the coin fell by 26%. To be fair, however, ADA has seen good performance if we look further back, with the coin more than doubling in price in August and it's still up by more than 2,000% in a year.

In terms of other coins from the top 10 list by market capitalization, there’s no way around mentioning shiba inu (SHIB). The self-proclaimed “dogecoin killer” has climbed from being essentially worthless at the beginning of the year, to entering the top 10 list of the most valuable cryptoassets and flipping the original dogecoin (DOGE) in October.


Over the course of the month, SHIB, now ranked as the 8th most valuable cryptoasset, rose by 870%.

Lastly from the top 10 list, it’s also worth noting the performance of the major smart contract and DeFi-focused assets ethereum, solana (SOL), and polkadot (DOT), which all rose by 30%-40%. Open / Comment

The Ethereum network will take another step closer to the Ethereum 2.0 update with the launch of the Altair update on the Beacon Chain on October 27.

Altair Update Highlights Beacon Chain
The Altair update will introduce easy customer support, minor fixes for incentives, accounting for inactivity leaks for each validator, increased criticality, and clearing validator rewards with simplified state management. However, the main function of the Altair update will be to introduce Beacon Chain and its customers to the main network. Beacon Chain,launched last December, is a proof-of-stakerunning on the core network in parallel with proof-of-work. The plan is to go through a real-time upgrade process to test and prepare codebases before the final merger.

Ethereum developer Ben Edgington commented on the upcoming merger:

"The proof of stakeupdate, known as The Merge, will be the biggest update in the history of Ethereum. The Altair update will give us valuable experience, ensuring that the merger goes smoothly when it is ready for rollout in 2022."

Easy Customers And Tough Penalties For Beacon
The Altair update is the first major network update since the August hard fork in London to feature EIP-1559. According to the chief coordinator of the developers Tim Beiko, the Altair update will benefit the system in three directions. First, developers will be able to create lightweight clients in Beacon Chain, which will contribute to a simpler and more cost-effective way to interact with the network. This will eliminate the need to depend on the full node software for verification. Secondly, participants must now be active in order to receive income. They will need to maintain their nodes on the network and update them, as the priority will be penalties for inaction when updating. Finally, the update will act as a test run to make sure the network can be updated in the Beacon chain efficiently.

What Validators Need To Know
Since only 17% of the nodes are left before synchronization (at the time of reporting), the update will not bring any changes for regular users of coins or contracts. However, validators will need to download and download the latest version of the software and restart their nodes as usual. Host owners who do not update the software to the latest version will not be able to join the updated chain.
