The US government has just released detailed guidance on crypto regulation, including the possibility of issuing a CBDC (central bank cryptocurrency). In addition to highlighting the benefits CBDCs will bring, the new guidance also says an interdisciplinary working group will begin meeting regularly to support the Federal Reserve's research on CBDCs.
National Economic Council Director Brian Deese and Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen shared:
“The White House, the Treasury and other agencies will, on their part, provide maximum support to the Fed to continue analyzing and testing national digital currencies.”
