UAE Launches "The Digital Dirham" CBDC Strategy to Boost Financial Innovation and Inclusion

The Central Bank of the UAE has launched "The Digital Dirham," its Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) strategy to promote digital transactions and encourage innovation in the financial services sector. The CBDC is part of the bank's Financial Infrastructure Transformation program and will be launched in partnership with infrastructure provider G42 Cloud and technology provider R3. The first phase of the strategy will include the soft launch of "mBridge" to facilitate cross-border CBDC transactions for international trade remittances.
