MetaMask to add support for Bitcoin
The developers of non-custodial wallet MetaMask, which has more than 30 million monthly active users, announced support for Bitcoin using the Snaps program.
According to MetaMask’s Developer Documentation, Snaps is a system that runs in an isolated environment and allows anyone to safely expand the capabilities of MetaMask. It can add new APIs to MetaMask, add support for different blockchain protocols, or modify existing functionality using internal APIs.
Earlier in March, Consencys CEO Joseph Lubin revealed that MetaMask would launch its own token and a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) that would fund the development of the project.
